British National Overseas families coming from Hong Kong on the BNO route will benefit from a dedicated £43 million integration programme to help status holders assimilate in the UK. A sum of £30.7 million will go to councils to provide targeted support for arrivals and it is hoped to help cover English language and housing support. £5 million will also be used to establish 12 virtual welcome hubs for projects designed to provide support and advice for school admissions, registering with a GP and setting up a business. The move is expected to help Hong Kong British Nationals integrate and engage as residents:
Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick said:
This programme will ensure British National (Overseas) status holders and their families have the very best start as soon as they arrive, and support to help them find a home, schools for their children, opportunity and prosperity.
