According to the Accenture/ IHS Markit UK Business Outlook, a poll of around 1,400 private sector firms showed that 68% of them expect activity to rise. While Britain’s economy shrank to almost 10% last year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this business optimism is encouraging as Rachel Barton, strategy and consulting lead at Accenture UK and Ireland said:
“After a tough year it is encouraging to see business confidence bouncing back.”
“Although we are not out of the woods yet, it is important for UK business to take advantage of this confidence in order to build a sustainable recovery.”
The planned lifting of restrictions and current vaccine progress has helped boost business expectations and with corporate spending plans at their highest since the pandemic began and more planned investments on technology and staff, these have proved to be good signs.
