Mass covid testing is said to be expanded to businesses who have more than 50 employees, the government has announced. More workplaces will now be able to offer increased testing in an effort to decrease the prevalence of COVID-19 and number of cases and detect coronavirus in those who do not show symptoms. Those who cannot work from home, such as food manufacturers, are being asked to sign up to these rapid testing programmes. More than 10 million people have been vaccinated in the UK to date and it is estimated that vaccines will have been offered to 15 million people of those who hold priority (aged 70 or over) by mid-February.
The expanded testing could be an effective initiative to reopening up the economy as more eligible businesses will be encouraged to do so.
